About Us

Let’s start off with introductions, we are Jessica and Katelyn, two friends with the same passion. To embrace forgotten or misunderstood wellness practices, and share them with the world. Our goal here at PIW is to be a resource- to help anyone, at any stage in life, embrace natural wellness that is backed in scientific fact, and proven results. So come along on this journey with us as we dive into these wonderful topics together!

PS, don’t forget to leave your shoes at home 😉

Jessica

Hey, I’m Jessica. I’m a barefoot, kombucha and raw milk addicted, nature-loving, wellness enthusiast! My wellness journey started when I was about fourteen when I was labeled a typical healthy American child even though I had asthma, sprained ankles, chronic acne, constipation, and anxiety. The perfect image of health, right? It wasn’t until four years later that I was diagnosed as lactose intolerant with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. So I started down the mainstream ideas of health – almond milk, alternative dairy-free yogurts, tofu cheeses, etc. This Western medicine solution only gave me minimal pain relief and did not fix the root problems in my gut and my lifestyle, so I kept searching.

In November of 2022, I was introduced to the Weston A. Price Foundation through a new mutual friend of Kate’s and my life has changed for the good. I began listening to the Wise Traditions podcasts and began research on what true health, medicine, and healing is. Slowly, I started making lifestyle changes and ultimately, paradigm shifts down the road of a holistic lifestyle. I soon learned about how the gut is like the second brain, our bodies are made to be in balance and want to heal themselves, and the power of slowing down. I am still on this journey toward healing but I am now more in tune with my lifestyle, my own body’s intuition, and my capability to heal than I ever have been before.

I desire to share what I have discovered along my journey and hopefully will encourage you to take your health into your own hands by making informed health, wellness, and lifestyle decisions. I am passionate about educating on the other side of the story, going beyond what the mainstream media, western medical system, and big pharma say are the only ways to health. Our country is sicker than ever, despite all the technology and so-called knowledge we have available today. The cultural push is to keep striving, to work harder, and achieve more. I advocate for looking to traditional wisdom for ways to access health and for slowing down, being outside, and walking barefoot to be in balance with God’s creation; it does so much for our bodies and our souls.

Katelyn

Hi  I’m Katelyn! A born and raised Alaskan girl who now resides in the mountains of TN with her husband and 1st little one on the way! My wellness journey really started right around 2019 when after having been a vegan for a period of time, my health was trashed. Diagnosed with IBS, and dealing with severe acid reflux,

my energy levels were at a -2, and my skin looked awful. I was desperate. Through the same mutual friend Jessica spoke of, I learned of the Weston Price Foundation / the Nourishing Traditions books.  I slowly started to incorporate bone broths, organ meats, gut building things such as lacto-fermented foods / kombucha, and when I could, raw dairy. It truly was a life changing experience. It has been a slow on going journey in healing my gut and learning to best take care of my body, but one of the most rewarding things I have ever gone through.

My hope is that when you learn from the wonderful things we have pieced together for you here at PIW, that you too can see the amazing results that the 2 of us, as well as so many others, have gotten through many of these practices. That you can learn for yourself that there is more to health, and more to healing, than just what western medicine says there is.
